10 Ways To Help You Build A Winning Mindset

In 1989, I found myself a single mom with 2 little kids. There was no child support and was making less than $40,000 per year. I’ll admit, my mindset was a little cynical and bitter after my divorce. It wasn’t pretty. My family has disowned me because of who I had chosen to marry. I had no support and was in a very dark place and I knew that I had to pull myself out of that place. I was in an MLM at the time and I went to a seminar on creating a winning mindset. Dennis Whately was the speaker and his words were speaking directly to me in a crowd of thousands. He gave me hope and a plan to turn my life around. One clear distinction Dennis makes is that the difference between life’s winners and losers is that winners build good habits to help then succeed and losers retain all their bad habits, content living a life of fear and regret.
Here are 10 things I started focusing on from that day forward.
1. Self Projection
What you think about, you bring about. How do you see yourself in the world? Do you see yourself as valuable and worthy?
2. Have Clearly Defined Goals
In every area of your life. You need goals with an action plan. Goals with deadlines and milestones.
3. Focus On The Positive Side Of All Actions
I know how easy it is to get caught up in the drama. Don’t hang out with those people and allow them to pollute your mind.
4. Use Your Power Of Self Determination
No one is going to tell me what I can and cannot do. I am the boss of me and the boss of my destiny. You don’t have to have all the answers, you just have to be committed and determined.
5. Self Awareness
What are your strengths and what could you develop in? Look at finding ways to improve on those areas you aren’t as strong in and leveraging what you’re already great at.
6. Self Esteem & Self Image
My self-esteem was pretty low back then and didn’t have a good sense of who I was. I had to surround myself with people believed in me more than I believed in myself. Fake it till you make it. Write affirmations and fill your cup.
7. Self Discipline
The discipline to get out of bed in the morning and work on yourself. I had to learn how to be disciplined in networking because I was shy and didn’t know how to talk to people. Yes, me. I made myself go to 2 events per month to network myself and get past it.
8.  Self Talk
You know, the conversation you have in the back of your head. What kinds of things are you saying to yourself? Would you allow someone to say those things to your children or your best friend? Probably not. Sometimes, you are your worst enemy. It is time to retrain your self-talk.
9. Consider The Complete Person
Not just you at work or you in a relationship. Take a look at your health and wellbeing, your faith, family, education, and financial priorities. You want to have holistic success, not just work success.
10. Live In The Present
Wherever you are, be present now. There was a time in my life where I was so busy being busy that I barely remember what I was doing. Shift your thinking to your now. Shift your mindset, create a new reality, and block out the negativity. Nobody said it was going to be easy. We made that up! It’s not all rainbows and butterflies. But I do get to make my own reality. I am responsible for everything great, good, and bad in my life.
You decide what you want and how you want to create your future.
