10 Tips for Being a Successful Businesswoman, Wife, and Mom

If you’re like many of the women I meet, you want to do everything! You want to be a successful businesswoman, wife, mom, and friend. You’re trying to be the best person you can be, and you end up doing so many things!

I used to have this problem. I wanted to help everyone and please everyone. But since surrendering this idea of doing it all, I’ve felt free. Here are some of my top strategies for success when it comes to living the hectic lifestyle of a modern woman.

10 Tips For Being A SUCCESSFUL Businesswoman, Wife, and Mom!

1. Create a “Me Day!”

When was the last time you set aside some time just for you? Errands don’t count. Even though you might enjoy picking up groceries, that’s time that you’re spending on helping others instead of yourself. You need to make a habit of having uninterrupted time just for you and your wellbeing. Take care of yourself. After all that you do for others, you deserve to take a little time to do something that you love for a change.

2. Hire a House Cleaner

Don’t get me wrong: sometimes I do enjoy cleaning. It can feel cathartic. But after a long day of work, there’s nothing better than coming home to clean carpet lines and the fresh scent of Pine-Sol. Once I hired a house cleaner, I gained so much time! I had an extra three to five hours a week that I could spend on my family, my friends or myself. If you find yourself devoting way too much time to cleaning, it’s time to hire a cleaning service. It will free up your schedule and your stress. And if the state of your home is a regular source of conflict between you and your partner, you won’t have to deal with those fights anymore.

3. Shop for Groceries Online

Starting to shop for my groceries online has become a huge time saver! At first, I was skeptical. I wondered how I’d be able to pick out high-quality produce online. But eventually, I learned to love buying my groceries online and having them delivered to my house! It’s convenient and usually saves me two to three hours a week. Switching over to online grocery delivery means you have one less thing on your plate. Your cupboards will always be full, so you’ll never have to worry about making an inconvenient last-minute run to the grocery store.

4. Nurture Girlfriend Relationships

Girl bonds run deep. Your friends shouldn’t just be your clients, co-workers, or employees. If the only people that you talk to are people who you’re paying or people who are paying you, it’s time to invest more in your girlfriends.

Plan girl dates. They don’t have to be every week or even every month. Carve out some time in bite-sized chunks. It could be every quarter, or you could plan an annual trip with your girlfriends every year. Just make sure you put it on the calendar, or it will never get done.

5. Start Saying “No”

I know it’s hard to say “no.” If you’re a people pleaser like me, you always want to tell people “yes.” But sometimes “no” is the best thing for not just you but also the person you’re telling “no” to. Wouldn’t it be better to be honest so that person knows you don’t have the time or mental capacity to get the job done well? Saying “no” allows them to find someone else who actually has the time to do high-quality work.

6. See a Therapist

Seeing a therapist or counselor can give you a new perspective. Find a safe space to share your feelings where no one is judging you and there’s no agenda for listening to you. You’re free to be you! Professional therapy can help you figure out what’s working for you in your life and what’s working you.

7. Give Back

Even in the middle of a packed schedule, there’s nothing quite like giving back. Contribute to humanity. Give back to your family, your children, and grandchildren. Find a cause that’s meaningful to you and set aside time or money for that cause. It will help you feel a sense of purpose and put things into perspective. Choose to support people who can’t do it for themselves. I always like to say that God’s gift is who you are and your gift back to God is what you make of your life.

8. Relationships are Essential

Don’t forget to create time for the people in your life. Fostering relationships with your kids takes time and creation. But I can tell you that one of the most rewarding feelings in the world is when my adult children actually want to hang out with me. So, schedule time with your kids and take family vacations.

9. Schedule Regular Exercise

We all know that our bodies are temples, but we don’t always prioritize staying in shape. It takes time, energy, and commitment to do. It’s hard to wake up early when all we want to do is sleep!

You need to make exercise a priority for your health and wellbeing. You don’t have to devote a ton of time to it, and it doesn’t have to be super rigorous activity. Just as you’re putting it on your schedule to be active!

10. Breathe!

Don’t forget to breathe while you’re working out! It may sound obvious, but women actually find it harder to breathe while exercising than men. So take deep, cleansing breaths and relax. It makes all the difference!

You Are A Successful Businesswoman, Wife, and Mom!

You don’t have to do it all! Stop trying to be superwoman. And don’t forget to share this with someone you know who needs to hear it!
